Rea,
Have you ever felt completely lost? Maybe it was trying to solve a really hard math problem, or figuring out what to do in a tricky situation with friends. What if getting lost isn’t about where you are, but how you handle it?
Long ago in ancient Greece, there was a young prince named Theseus who had to face something much scarier than being lost in a store. He had to enter a huge maze called the Labyrinth, built to trap people inside. And at its center was the Minotaur — a creature that was half-bull and half-human.
The Labyrinth was the most confusing maze ever built. Its paths led nowhere, and once inside, most people got so scared about being lost that they couldn’t think straight. That’s exactly what the Minotaur counted on.
But Theseus had help from a clever princess named Ariadne. She didn’t give him a map or a weapon. Instead, she gave him something much simpler: a ball of string. “Tie one end at the entrance,” she told him, “and let it trail behind you as you walk.”
Here’s what made Theseus different: he didn’t waste time trying not to get lost. He knew he would get lost — and that was okay. Instead of worrying about remembering every turn, he trusted that his string would always show him the way back.
Want to know what happened? Theseus made it to the center of the maze. He faced the Minotaur. And because he wasn’t worried about being lost, he could think clearly enough to win the fight. Then, following his string, he walked right back out — something no one had ever done before.
You know how sometimes when you’re stuck on a hard problem, your brain feels all jumbled up? That’s your own personal labyrinth. But just like Theseus, you don’t have to worry about getting lost. You just need your own kind of string — maybe it’s taking a deep breath, or breaking the problem into smaller pieces, or knowing it’s okay to ask for help.
Love, Abba
P.S. Next time you feel lost, remember: it’s not about trying not to get lost. It’s about having a way to find your path again.
